Peres and Dayan were political allies, both members of Mapai, and later founding members of Rafi.

Shimon Peres was the President of Israel, who was also twice Prime Minister of Israel and won the Nobel Peace Prize with Yitzhak Rabin and Yasser Arafat for the peace talks that he participated in as Israeli Foreign Minister, producing the Oslo Accords.

Moshe Dayan was an Israeli military leader and politician served as Chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces and Minister of Defense, Foreign Affairs and Agriculture in the Israeli government.
