The illustrator of the book is Henri Epstein (1892–1944) the Polish-French painter and graphic artist. Studied in Łódź and Munich. His initially fauvist style evolved later towards expressionism. He was also active in the Yiddish cultural renaissance and published articles in various Yiddish art magazines. In 1944 he was interned to Drancy and deported to Auschwitz where he was murdered.
