Győző Istoczy (1842–1915) was a lawyer and politician. For more than 20 years, he served as a member of the National Assembly, first as a member of the Deak Party and later as a member of the Liberal Party. During his tenure as a representative, one of his main political goals was to halt the mass immigration of Jews from Galicia and the economic expansion of the Jewish community in Hungary. Several lawsuits were filed against him due to his aggressive promotion of these views. Due to increasingly frequent attacks from both outside and within his own party, he resigned from the Liberal Party in 1882 and founded the National Anti-Semitic Party in 1883, which won 17 seats in parliament in the 1884 elections.
The author addresses his thoughts to Gyozo Istoczy, founder of the Hungarian Anti-Semitic Party, condemning the party’s views.
