The majority of the book is focusing on the time between the date of the German occupation of Hungary March 19, 1944 until the liberation of the country by the Soviet forces. Gives detailed account of the rescue efforts led by Friedrich Born, Carl Lutz (Switzerlan), Valdemar Langlet, Raoul Wallenberg and Carl Ivan Danielson (Sweden) and George Mandel-Mantello (Republic of El Salvador).
