Erna Vamos, was born in Budapest in a Hungarian family of Jewish origin. She was an artist who specialized mainly in portraits of African subjects. Her youth, spent in Budapest and Paris, was marked by the influence of certain of the artistic (Art déco) and intellectual (psychoanalysis, anthropology) movements of the inter-war period. However, her artistic production achieved between 1935 and 1965 mainly in Africa and subsequently in Israel,
