Iván Kotsis ( 1889 – 1980 ) was a Hungarian architect and architectural historian. He completed his secondary education at the state secondary school in Arad, and after graduating he moved to Budapest and enrolled at the Technical University in September 1907. His teachers were all highly respected and excellent professionals: Alajos Hauszmann , Samu Pecz and Frigyes Schulek . During World War I , he served as a military engineer. After his demobilization, he returned to the university and obtained a technical doctorate in 1918, and then a private teacher's qualification in Italian architecture in 1920. From 1922, he taught at the Department of Building Design.
