First edition. Engraved map. Scale 1:12,093 (E 55°29'/S 4°37’). Size: ca. 100 × 70 cm. With addition toponyms in pencil and ink, mathematical notes at the margins in pencil, and marks in red and yellow ink in Fauvel’s hand. Folded, chipped at the edges. Some small closed tears at folding. Otherwise in very good condition.

Nautical chart of Port Victoria on Mahé Island of the Seychelles archipelago, with depths shown by bathymetric isolines and soundings, relief shown by spot heights, includes coastal profile, published by the British Admiralty, who produced nautical charts since 1795 under the auspices of the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office.

With handwritten added information by Albert-Auguste Fauvel (1851–1909), the French explorer and naturalist, and the author of the first monograph of the Seychelles Islands, Unpublished Documents on the History of the Seychelles Islands Anterior to 1810 (Mahé, 1909), which also included is a listing of early maps of the Seychelles and 38 of them had been reproduced and published in a separate portfolio.
