Ottó Titusz Bláthy (1860–1939) was a Hungarian electrical engineer, the co-inventor of the alternating current “ZBD” transformer in 1885 (ZBD comes from the initials of the inventor’s names: Károly Zipernowsky, Otto Bláthy and Miksa Déri), the coiner of the word “transformer”. He is also known as an author of chess problems, mostly in the field of moremovers.
