Five text leaves of the original book dummy of The Hen that Wanted a Comb, with text bands mounted on the pages. Stamp (in Yiddish) of the "Idisher Folks Farlag, Kooperative Gezelshaft" and handwritten inscription (in Yiddish) "Lissitzky, Di hun vos hot gevolt hoben a kam" in ink on the verso of each leaf. 5 leaves, p. 2, 4, 6, 10, 13. Some corrections to the text in pencil. Slightly stained. Tanned. Overall in very good condition.
All non-illustrated leaves of the original book dummy of the Yiddish children’s book The Hen that Wanted a Comb, written by Benzion Raskin and illustrated by El Lissitzky.
Present work includes all the non-illustrated leaves of the book dummy of Di Hun Vos Hot Gevolt Hoben a Kam (published by: Kyiv: Idisher Folks Farlag, 1919), created by Benzion Raskin. The text layout is identical to the printed version, with minor typographic differences.
El Lissitzky and Raskin signed a contract for 11 children’s books with the Idisher Folks Farlag in 1919. Only three titles were published, including the present work Di hun vos hot gevolt hoben a kam, Di milner, di milnerin, un di milshtayner, and Der Bar.
