Péter Nádas (b. 1942) is Hungary’s major contemporary writer, novelist, dramatist, essayist. His works are compared to Marcel Proust, Thomas Mann, and to Thomas Bernhard by Susan Sontag.

With two short novels in “A Biblia” Nádas recalls his childhood experiences. Many of the main motifs of Nádas’ later works, that are represented the best in his masterpiece the “Emlékiratok könyve” in 1986 (in English: Book of Memories, 1997.), could be traced already in these early short stories: the garden, the dog, the “girl next door”, the communist parents who work in the administration, childhood sexuality and the concept of untruth.

WorldCat locates only two copies in institutional holding in the US.
