First fortepiano arrangement for Così fan tutte, by Christian Gottlob Neefe.

First fortepiano transcription, and the second for keyboards, for Mozart’s opera, Così fan tutte, which was premiered in 1790 in Vienna. Arranged by Christian Gottlob Neefe (1748–1798), the German composer and conductor, who was the principal piano teacher of Ludwig van Beethoven.

The present issue was published in 1802 or a little later, with the cast list on p. [209], which was on the first page in earlier issues. Neefe’s transcription for fortepiano was only preceded by Siegfried Schmiedt’s harpsichord arrangement published by Breitkopf in 1794.
