Richly illustrated, first Czech edition of Die Neue Wohnung, die Frau als Schöpferin (The New Dwelling: The Woman as Creator) by Bruno Taut.

In his 1924 work, German architect, urban planner and author Bruno Taut (1880–1938) envisions modern architecture liberating women, especially in regard to the construction of living space. According to Taut, “new dwellings will provide the woman with a way to improve her performance. She will adopt a new organization for her work and, with due consideration to the given circumstances, arrange to perform individual chores – tending the children, cooking, serving meals, washing up, cleaning, laundry, shopping, etc. – according to a plan.” (Taut, 1924)

Translated by the Czech Marxist literary theorist and a critic, Bedrich Václavek (1897–1943), one of the most important figures of Czech the left in literary scene of the time. In the 1920’s he was a member of the Czech avant-garde artist association, Devestil, and later, in the 1930’s worked in the leftist group Levá fronta.
