Scarce, first-hand account of the Mauthausen concentration camp, written by the Slovenian Partisan survivor, France Hribar, also known under his nom de guerre Savinjsek.
In his writing, Hribar, who was imprisoned in the Nazi concentration camp between 1941–1943, gives a detailed description of the daily life and living conditions inside the camp. His book also reports on the murders Hribar witnessed and includes a chapter entirely devoted to prostitution. The cover illustration for the book was designed by the Slovenian amateur artist, France Cegnar (1925–2011).
The present book, published by the underground Partisan press of the Liberation Front in Maribor, is a shorter variant of the first edition of Hribar’s Holocaust memoirs, published with the same cover in the spring of 1944 by Tehnika Slavko Slander in Mozirje, Styria.
Extremely scarce, we could trace only one copy in institutional holding, in the University Library Maribor.
