Second book by Mrożek (1930–2013) the Polish dramatist and writer of absurdist fiction, his name became well-known through Martin Esslin’s book “The Theater of the Absurd” in which he labelled Mrożek an absurdist.
“Półpancerze praktyczne” is a collection of satirical short stories. This time Mrożek’s works were in tune with the official Stalinist ideology, he attacks the petit bourgeois mentality, warns about the revival of the fascist tendencies in Germany and introduces Dwight D. Eisenhower as a successor of Hitler’s tradition.
