Moyshe Kulbak (1896–1937) was a Yiddish-language poet and writer, one of the central figures of the Yiddish culture during the interwar period, with strong connections all over Europe and the US. Contributed to Yiddish periodicals in Germany and Poland, and published frequently in the New York-based “Di Tsukunft”. Among other positions in Yiddish cultural institutions he served as chairman of the Yiddish PEN Club. Kulbak was arrested and executed in 1937 during the Stalinist terror in the Soviet Union.
