Two Works by the Nobel Laureate George de Hevesy

Die Löslichkeit der Doppelfluoride des Zirkons und Hafniums. (Offprint of “Zeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie”. Band 144. Heft 1 u. 2.)

Leipzig: Leopold Voss, (1925). First edition. Presentation copy. With Kiss’ stamp of ownership. In original paper. Inscribed by Hevesy to Árpád Kiss chemist and the author of the first work in Hungarian on radioactivity in 1911. 69–74 p. In fine condition.

Research on the solubility of double-fluoride of zirconium and hafnium in water at various temperatures by Georg von Hevesy (1885–1966) radiochemist, Nobel laureate, disciple and friend of Ernest Rutherford, the co-discoverer with Dirk Coster of Hafnium (named after Hafnia, the Latin name of Copenhagen, Niels Bohr’s - Hevesy’s friend - home town). He earned the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1943 “for his work on the use of isotopes as tracers in the study of chemical processes”. He was member (beside numerous scientific associations) of The Royal Society of London and gained its highest award, the Copley Medal.
