László Endre (January 1, 1895, Abony – March 29, 1946) an Nazis, and after Germany
occupied Hungary on March 19, 1944, he developed a strong, personal
relationship with Adolf Eichmann. On April 9 of that year Endre became
undersecretary of state in the Hungarian government led by Dome Sztojay.
He held the position until September 5, 1944. During his five months in the
government, Endre played a major role in the extermination of his country's
Jews.
At the end of the war Endre fled Hungary with the withdrawing German
troops. He was captured by American soldiers and sent back to Hungary in
October 1945. He was tried, convicted, and sentenced to death as a war
criminal, and was hanged on March 29, 1946.
