Kárász’s photographs explore the material qualities and structures of everyday things. Whether folded fabric, parched soil or cotton wool, the physical nature of the subject is the primary focus. Informed by her Bauhaus teacher László Moholy-Nagy, she felt that photography could make tangible aspects of its subject matter that could not be detected by the eye alone. In each case the resulting image is carefully constructed from a delicate balance of light and shadow across the surface of the chosen material. , Kárász studied under photographer Walter Peterhan.
