Jean de Préchac’s (1647–1720) novel of love and friendship. A love story between Zouglan, the Pasha Seraskir and Zaratima. Préchac’s second novel featuring Emeric Thököly as a main character, its description of the First Siege of Buda in 1684 is historically accurate. The book was an immediate success, and an English, German, and Italian translation appeared in the same year as the present French first edition.
