Handwritten Note By Vasily Chuikov.

Chuikov’s good wishes to Karel Safranek, wishing him good heath and success in work and privat life as well. Signed as V. Chuikov, the Marshal of the Soviet Union, on October 14, 1964.

General Vasily Ivanovich Chuikov (1900–1982) was a high ranked Soviet military personnel, commander of the Red Army during the Civil War, and lieutenant general during World War II. As the commander of the 62nd Army he led the troops that turned the fortunes of the German army during the Battle of Stalingrad. Served as commander in chief of the Soviet occupation force in Germany until 1953 and later became commander of all Soviet land forces and Deputy Minister of Defense. He was member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party since 1961 until his death. Among his many honours, he counted nine Orders of Lenin, the highest Soviet citation, twice Hero of the Soviet Union and he was promoted to Marshal of the Soviet Union in 1955.
