Scarce document of the “first” war of the French Wars of Religion, concerning the Triumvirate. The author of this anonymous Catholic pamphlet, dated May 20, 1562, collected the Huguenot accusations against the Triumvirate, showing the importance of the 1562 Edict of January (also known as the Edict of Toleration or Saint-Germain) in their arguments.

The Triumvirate, formed in April 1561, was an alliance between the marshal of France Jacques d’Albon, Seigneur de Saint André, Constable of France Anne de Montmorency and Francis, duke of Guise, for the defense of Catholicism and to combat Protestantism. They opposed to the policy of concessions which Catherine de' Medici attempted to inaugurate in favour of the Protestants. USTC 1228
