La Historia General del Reyno Balearico was written by the Jesuit historian and appointed chronicler of the Kingdom of Majorca, Juan Dameto (1554–1633) a native of Palma. His chronicle is divided into three books, the first contains a general description of the islands’ topography, and the history and chronology of the first inhabitants, the second deals with the conquest of Majorca by James I of Aragon, and the third book recount the history of the Kingdom until the death of James II of Majorca in 1311. Dameto died before finishing his monumental work, and its second volume, written by Vicente Mut, was only published in 1650.

Some copies appear with 1633 as the date of printing, the two are otherwise identical. IB 25882; Palau 68209; Díaz. vol. 9, no. 2268.
