“Zwrotnica” was the magazine of “Awangarda Krakowska” the Kraków-group of avant-garde artists’. The founder and the editor of the periodical was Tadeusz Peiper (1891–1967), the poet and art critic, who was the chief theoretician of the group. “Zwrotnica” united the most talented Polish modernist poets like Jan Brzękowski, Julian Przyboś, and Jalu Kurek. It was published in two series the first 6 issues in the years 1922 and 1923 and the second in 1926–1927.

Title page designed by Kazimierz Podsadecki (1904–1970) Polish painter and a prolific printmaker. He was member of the Polish avant-garde circles, his photomontages were first published in the first series of “Zwrotnica”, later Podsadecki designed the layout of the periodical. Exhibited his works at the international exhibition of typography in Łodz organized by the group “a. r.” (Artyści Rewolucyjni) which was the most prominent leftist avant-garde circle in the interwar Poland.
