Collection of photographs of Hungarian WWI POW in Asia.
Around 1916. 10 original, vintage albumen photographs. One with handwritten Hungarian text on verso “POW photos. Japanese beauties from Ip”. In different sizes: ca. 120 × 170; (4) 90 × 130; 110 × 160; 107 × 155; (2) 117 × 155; 113 × 155 mm. Edges slightly creased, small holes on two photographs. Overall in very good condition.
Collection of 10 photographs taken possibly near a Russian PoW camp by a Hungarian inmate.
Most pictures capture locals posing for the camera in mainly traditional Chinese clothing including men wearing “Mandarin collar” shirt and women wearing Hanfu. One picture depicts Russian soldiers in WWI uniform, learning how to communicate with morse code.
