Kazimierz Podsadecki’s striking photomontages in the 1929 issue of the Polish weekly magazine, Swiatowid.

Kazimierz Podsadecki (1904–1970) was a Polish avant-garde painter and graphic artist. Coming from the constructivist tradition, Podsadecki was interested in photomontage and experimental films. He was a member of Praesens group, a Warsaw-based leftist avant-garde collective, that brought together architects and artists who supported constructivism and functionalism in art, deeply rooted in Bauhaus.

Podsadecki started to work for Ilustrowany Kurier Codzienny as an illustrator in 1928. During his time there, he often published photomontages in the Polish weeklies, such as Światowid and Na szerokim swiecie. The present issue of Swiatowid features Podsadecki’s cover design and a large, double-page photomontage by him.
