Scarce publication of the prominent Spanish art brut painter, Miguel Hernandez, including fifteen original linocuts along with fifteen poems, written by him. Together with an original linocut of Hernandez, which also appears in the book.
The book was published by the Compagnie de l'Art Brut, an organization which Jean Dubuffet founded with other artists such as Andre Breton and Jean Paulhan in 1948, in order to promote art made outside the academic tradition of fine art.
Miguel Hernandez (1893–1957) was a self-taught painter who fought as an Anarchist on the Republican side in the Spanish Civil War, before going into exile in Paris. His work was shown by the Compagnie de l'Art Brut from its foundation.
