Franz Lehár (1870–1948) was an Austro-Hungarian composer, one of the most significant composers of operetta. Lehár achieved worldwide success with Die lustige Witwe (The Merry Widow).

The postcard is addressed to Lehár’s younger sister, Mrs. Isvtánné Papházay, born Emilia (Emilie Christine) Lehár (1890–1976; Papházay [formerly Pawlas] after her husband, István).
