Persecution of the Jews in Germany - Scarce Lithographs

Seven Lithographs. 1937.

1937. Each signed, dated and titled by the artist in ink. Different sizes, each mounted on larger paper. Paper size: 245 × 330 mm. Printed in black, one colored in yellow. Some traces of crease, pages yellowed, otherwise in fine conditon.

László Keleti’s scarce collection of seven images concerning the persecution of the Jews, one with Palestine-theme.

László Keleti was born in Transylvania in 1907, studied art at the Académie Colarossi in Paris. His drawings appeared in print in different Transylvanian journals and magazines in the 1930s, but also in the most important Hungarian Jewish literary, art and social magazine of the time, in the “Mult és Jövö”. His first album “A zsidók utja” [The Path of the Jews] was published in 1936 with drawings related to the persecution of the Jews in Germany, the second in 1945 about the tragedy of the Holocaust.

These seven pieces are from Keleti’s first album: “A zsidók utja”: A bünbak (The Scapegoat), Ghetto, Uj kancsuka (New Whip), Végtelen ut… (Infinite Road), Örök vándor (Eternal Wanderer), A csizma (The Boots), A föld (The Soil).

Extremely scarce. We could not trace any copies of the album in institutional holdings.
