Scarce catalogue of a 1914 international avant-garde exhibition in Prague, organised by the Czech artist association, S. V. U. Mánes. With original, inserted leaf of price list.

The catalogue includes the complete list of over 150 presented works by 43 French and Czech artists, including Albert André, Émile Bernard, Pierre Bonnard, Kees van Dongen, Claude Monet, Paul Signac and Edouard Vuillard, as well as Jan Konůpek, Herbert Masaryk, Václav Špála and Max Švabinský. The original, inserted leaf of price-list is also presented.

The catalogue also features an advertisement of the pioneering Czech avant-garde photographer, František Drtikol’s (1883–1961) studio.

S[polek] v[ýtvarných] u[mělců] Mánes (The Mánes Association of Fine Artists) was an important artists’ organization, founded in 1887 in Prague. It gained significance for its international exhibitions that catalyzed interaction between Czech and foreign avant-garde artists. It also played an important role in the development of Czech Cubism. Foreign members of the association included Auguste Rodin, Edvard Munch, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Salvador Dali and architect Frank Lloyd Wright, Le Corbusier and Walter Gropius. S.V.U. Mánes was dissolved after After WWII not to revive until 1990.
