Printed in two columns. In later vellum with leather clasps. Title on spine, lettered in ink. Coll: §8 A–V8. ff: [8] 160. One of the clasps is torn. Marqués de Pidal’s bookplates on the inner front panel. Old ownership inscriptions (Maria de Byllegas/Villegas) and doodles in ink on last page and on the additional blank leaf. Some corners and margins are uneven (incl. title page), due to the quality of the paper. Inkblots, water, and other brown stains, sporadic foxing throughout, more significantly to the first half. A wormhole at the upper edge, near the gutter from H2 to M2, a larger one which very slightly affects the text, with no effect to legibility is at lower gutter between O3–V8. Otherwise in very good condition.

Alonso Morgado’s (ca. 1520–1589) Historia de Sevilla is the first printed history of Seville, considered the first reliable and accurate historical reconstruction of the city, an irreplaceable milestone in the historiography of the Andalusian capital.
The six chapters of the book are divided into two parts. The first discusses the history of the city since its mythical foundation through the conquests of the Visigoth and the Islamic Moors, the Reconquista, until contemporary times. It contains an extensive topographical, administrative, economic, and social description of Seville, and explains the relation of the kings of Castile, from Alfonso X to Philip II, to the Andalusian city. The second part (printed with a separate title page, dated 1586) deals with the religious institutions of the city, its parishes, and hospitals and the history of convents of Seville.
