Clément Marot (1496–1544) was one of the greatest poets of the French Renaissance. This edition of his collected works was actually printed in 1546 and appeared with the date 1546, 1547 and 1548 on the title page of which the present, 1548 imprint is the rarest. The first volume, which is the longest, contains Marot’s opuscules (including Adolescence Clémentine), elegies, epistles ballads, and songs. The second and third volumes, containing his translations (of Latin literature, and Psalms) and the Epistre du Coq en l’Asne (The Epistle of the Cock to the Donkey), not presented.
