In his fierce critic, Christóbal Cladera proves that the first Spanish translation of Shakespeare’ Hamlet by Leandro Fernandez de Moratín was not translated from the original English text, but from Pierre Le Tourneur’s 1776 French translation. Cladera also suggests several improvements and corrections.

Christóbal Cladera (1760–1816) was a Spanish writer, historian, and journalist.
