Sándor Bortnyik (1893–1976) was a Hungarian painter and graphic artist. Member of Kassák’s artistic circles. Exhibited his activist, cubist and constructivist works at MA’s exhibitions in Budapest and in Berlin in Galerie Der Sturm as well. In 1922 Bortnyik went to Weimar where he got connected to Bauhaus. Worked as stage designer for the Hungarian Avant-garde theatre, the “Zöld Szamár” (Green Donkey). Edited the Avant-garde periodical “Új Föld” (New Earth).
